The Six Jolly Fellowship Porters came from the pages of "Our Mutual Friend" by Charles Dickens. This was a fictional pub based on those he frequented and on which real pubs are named today. Fellowship porters were laborers who transported goods by carrying them – fish, fruit, salt, coal.
